A Clinical Review of Benign Mediastinal Teratoid Tumor Break into the Pulmonary Tissus

Abstract
|
|
|
Recently, the author experienced three cases of benign mediastinal teratoid tumor which had
breaked into the neighbouring pulmonary tissue.
These cases had been treated with antibiotics and anti-tuberculous chemotherapy for long period
under diagnnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis or abscess.
All of these intractable cases had had a long period of cough and occasional bloody sputum or
hemoptysis, especially one of these showed the trichoptysis about two years ago.
These mediastinal teratoid tumors were resected along with the invadd pulmonary lobes such as
right upper, right middle and left upper lobe respectively.
It was considered that these tumors pressed and breaked into the neighbouting pulmonary paren
chyme and pulmonary inflaamatory complications were prodeuced following fistulae formation
between these tumors and bronchi.
In all these cases, the diagnoses were confirmed as tertoid mediastinal tumors with secondary
inflammatory or suppurative pulmonary complications by the histological examination of the resected
materials.
